FK Austria Wien missed a chance to close the gap on Austrian Bundesliga leaders FC Red Bull Salzburg as they lost 1-0 away to second-tier SC Austria Lustenau in the last 16 of the Austrian Cup.
The only goal came from Andreas Fridirakis just before the break, as the home side continued their fine cup form in recent years, having reached the semi-finals in 2021 and 2022.

The result leaves Austria Wien five points behind Salzburg, with just four games remaining in the league season. They now face an uphill battle to retain the title they won last year.
Lustenau, meanwhile, will be delighted to have reached the quarter-finals of the cup, where they will face either SV Ried or LASK.
